launches in Manitoba

January 23, 2013

Vancouver, B.C. - Canada's regulated online gambling network has reached a milestone with launching in Manitoba.

On January 23, 2013, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries officially unveiled gambling for online players in Manitoba. The newly launched site is provided by BCLC and is based on British Columbia's successful business model, with many of the same games, responsible gambling tools and a shared poker network.

Registered Manitobans can now access the latest sports betting, casino and poker games through their own provincially regulated online gambling website. In April 2012, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries had identified BCLC's online model as the best choice for regulated online gambling in Manitoba.

BCLC has provided regulated online gambling to British Columbians through since 2004. In 2010, began offering online casino games to players and in 2011, together with Loto-Quebec, began offering peer-to-peer poker on a shared network. Last year, generated $66 million in revenue in B.C. and posted 53 per cent growth.

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries will also feature GameSense, BCLC's award-winning education tools to assist players with making informed choices about gambling. GameSense balances the fun element of play with reminders to stay within one's boundaries when participating in any games of chance. GameSense information is accessible online and will soon be available in all casinos in Manitoba.

Revenue from this initiative will be reinvested into communities instead of leaving the provinces through grey market sites. Have questions? Learn more in the FAQs or for information on the Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries announcement, visit
