Congratulations Donald Grefford!

Sandy Hook man wins $1 Million on LOTTO 6/49

Donald Grefford won $1,000,000 on the September 28 LOTTO 6/49 draw. The Sandy Hook resident said he's played regularly for the last 20 years.

"I've been playing for a long time," he said. "I always kick myself when I miss a draw. The way I look at it is you have to buy a ticket to be in the game. This time I was definitely in the game!"

The happy winner said he wasn't sure at first how much his ticket had actually won.

"I went on the computer to look up the winning numbers," he said. "I couldn't believe they matched so I called my roommate over to take a second look. He wasn't sure either."

"After that I went to the store and scanned my ticket," said Grefford. "At first I thought the screen read that it was a $100,000 winner. I was probably the calmest winner ever when I discovered it was actually a million!"

Grefford said he's still feeling calm about his win, but his children are extremely excited for him.

"You have to be smart with money, even when it's a million dollars," he said. "It's exciting; it will help a lot."

Grefford plans to use his winnings to pay off his house and start a construction business with his son. He is also going to put some money away for his grandkids' educations.

The new winner purchased his winning LOTTO 6/49 at the St. Vital Husky, located at 1025 St. Mary's Road in Winnipeg. He won the Guaranteed $1 Million Prize Draw on September 28.
