Q: What's happening to Sports Action? Is there anything similar?

To sustain and modernize B.C.'s lottery business, BCLC will replace its legacy equipment and systems to support future growth for the benefit of the province of B.C., our retail partners and players. As part of these changes, Sports Action will be decommissioned once the new lottery system goes live on May 26th. At this time the Sports Action brand will be retired. While BCLC has made the decision to decommission Sports Action, we are excited to bring our players a brand-new, digital sportsbook in retail later this summer. The new offering will still be anonymous and will be completely digital (no more paper and pencil betting slips). During the time that Sports Action is out of market and before the new retail sportsbook goes live, you are encouraged to create an account and play on PlayNow.com, which offers a full sportsbook experience. Note that an account is required to use Playnow.

Q: Do I need to do anything with my existing Sports Action tickets?

No. Even though Sport Action is being decommissioned, you can redeem any existing, winning tickets both before and after May 26th. On May 26th as the terminals are being installed you won't be able to redeem your tickets for about 24 hours. After May 26th you will be able to redeem your outstanding Sports Action tickets anytime.

Q: Can I still play Sports Action in the meantime?

Yes! You can play Sports Action until May 26th 2024.

Q: What are the details about this new retail sportsbook?

The new retail sportsbook will be digital, meaning no more pencils and paper slips. The retail sportsbook will be anonymous (no account required) and will have many new exciting ways to play, including single event betting, improved odds, more games, and same-day payouts. Toto will also be available. To place your bet, you will download the app on your phone, create a bet slip and receive an app-generated QR code. You will bring that QR code into a retail location to scan and receive a printed ticket. Live betting options will also be available on the lottery terminals in sports bars and pubs.

Q: I don't want to use the app. Can I create my bet slip on my computer?

Yes. If you're unable to download the app on your phone, you can create your bet slip on your computer. The process will be similar - once you're done creating your bet slip on your computer, you will need to take a screenshot or print out the generated QR code and take it to a retail location to scan and receive a printed ticket.

Q: Will I still be able to play without an account?

Yes! The new retail sportsbook will be completely anonymous.
