NCAA Football Championship outright odds (As of Nov. 13)
Ohio State 3.00
It’s exciting times ahead for college football fans as we head into Week 12 of the season.
After defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide in a nail-biting game, the LSU Tigers have taken the lead in the CFP rankings. Through the leadership of senior quarterback Joe Burrow, the Tigers have remained unbeaten through nine games. As of Tuesday, LSU had odds of 5.20 at PlayNow.com to win the national championship.
Burrow’s consistency throughout the season has also landed him a spot in the Heisman Trophy conversation. He has thrown for an impressive 3,198 yards, 33 touchdowns and also rushed for three touchdowns. Burrow’s real Heisman moment was an 18-yard run to Alabama’s seven-yard line that set up the Tigers’ final touchdown and all but sealed the win against Alabama. Burrow has odds of 1.10 to win the Heisman Trophy at PlayNow.com.
After the loss to LSU, Alabama fell out of the top four in the CFP Rankings. Some attributed the loss to an unhealthy starting quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, who suffered a high ankle sprain against Tennessee in October. Tagovailoa has had a Heisman-worthy season, throwing for 2,584 yards, 31 touchdowns and rushed for two major scores. As of Tuesday, Tagovailoa had odds of 28.00 to win the Heisman at PlayNow.com.
Despite the negative sentiments around Alabama, bettors remain bullish, with over 35 per cent of the money wagered on the College Football Championship market currently on Alabama winning. They currently have odds of 10.00 at PlayNow.com.
Another team to look out for is the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Over the off-season, the Buckeyes added former Elite 11 champion Justin Fields. Fields’ has had an impressive season, throwing for 1,859 yards and 27 touchdowns. He has also rushed for an impressive 10 touchdowns. His performances have placed him the Heisman conversation, with odds of 13.00 at PlayNow.com to win the Heisman.
The Buckeyes also have an elite pass-rush in Chase Young. Young currently has 13.5 sacks and five forced fumbles. The combination of an elite quarterback and pass-rush has left Ohio State ranked second in the CFP rankings.
Ohio State was, as of Friday, the favourite to win the College Football Championship with outright odds of 3.00 at PlayNow.com.
Going into this season, the buzz was around Clemson and whether they could defend their championship. After a close one-point win against the University of North Carolina, analysts had their doubts about Clemson, however, they have managed to remain unbeaten and have earned the third spot in the CFP rankings for this week. As of Friday, Clemson had the second-best odds for the College Football Championship –3.10 at Playnow.com. Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence has the sixth-best odds to win the Heisman Trophy.
Although Georgia has not had the best start to the season, losing one of their first eight games, some bettors still believe they have what it takes to win the College Football Championship. More than six per cent of the money wagered on the outright market is on Georgia.
Georgia faces Auburn this week in a must-win game to keep their playoff aspirations alive. Auburn’s elite pass rush will be a challenge for the Georgia offensive line, however, with a veteran quarterback in Jake Fromm, Georgia is expected to win.
