NFL Draft First Overall Pick odds (As of April 18)
Kyler Murray: 1.10
Nick Bosa: 6.00
Josh Allen: 20.00
Quinnen Williams: 20.00
Dwayne Haskins: 26.00
Drew Lock: 50.00
A week out from the NFL Draft, Kyler Murray is the clear betting favourite to go first overall to the Arizona Cardinals.
Murray opened as the favourite when NFL Draft bets were made available last month with odds of 1.24 at PlayNow.com. The only thing that has changed since then is his odds to go first overall have moved from 1.24 to 1.10 as of Thursday, with about 94 per cent of total money staked so far on him to go to the Cardinals.
Murray had an outstanding season with the Oklahoma Sooners. He passed for 42 touchdowns and ran for more than 1,000 yards. Kliff Kingsbury, now head coach in Arizona, stated months ago that he’d take Murray at No. 1.
Of course, this is the NFL Draft, and things can get crazy in a hurry.
Last year, Sam Darnold was, for the majority of the time, the favourite to go first overall. Hours before the draft commenced, the odds shifted as reports surfaced that Baker Mayfield – not Darnold – would go No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Browns.
Roger Goodell made that official when he stepped up to the podium.
The first round of the NFL Draft goes next Thursday. Which means over the next week there is going to be all sorts of speculation flying around about what the Cardinals may or may not do when they get on the clock.
That includes buzz that perhaps the Cardinals will look in a different direction – perhaps a defensive lineman like Nick Bosa (odds are 6.00 to go No. 1 at PlayNow.com) or Quinnen Williams (odds are 20.00 to go No. 1 at PlayNow.com).
Right now, 4.6 per cent of money is on Bosa to go first overall. His odds have gone from 3.60 on March 7 to 6.00 on April 18.
One thing is clear: Bettors are heavily backing Murray to go first overall.
Now we must wait for an entire week to hear the final decision from the Cardinals.
First Wide Receiver Drafted odds: 1.75
Of the many NFL Draft betting specials available, one to keep an eye on is which receiver will be first off the board.
D.K. Metcalf had never posted more than 646 yards receiving during his college career with Ole Miss. A neck injury in October disrupted the remainder of his 2018 season, in which he posted 569 yards and five touchdowns but was on pace to shatter his totals from the previous year.
His numbers and limited playing time could be a potential knock against him, although he’s currently the favourite to be the first receiver selected next week, with odds of 1.75 at PlayNow.com.
He enters the NFL Draft as perhaps the most tantalizing athlete in this class of prospects. He put together an absolutely monstrous performance at the combine, including a time of 4.33 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He also stands 6’3” and weighs in at 228 pounds.
Oklahoma wide receiver Marquise Brown has the second best odds of being the first receiver selected, at 3.60 at PlayNow.com.
2019 Win Total: 8.5
The NFL released the entire 2019 schedule on Thursday. The Seattle Seahawks open the season at home against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 8.
They host the reigning NFC champion Los Angeles Rams in Week 5 and follow that up with a trip to Cleveland to face the Browns the next week.
The Seahawks win total for the upcoming season has been set at 8.5, with odds of 1.83 for both the Over and Under.
Not much was expected of the Seahawks last season, with their win total set even lower at 8.0 , but they managed to prove their doubters wrong with the third-highest point total in the conference (behind only the Rams and New Orleans Saints) and a 10-6 record that ultimately qualified them for the playoffs.
Can they build off that in 2019? The last time Seattle finished with fewer than nine wins in a single season was 2011.
