Bet on the Big Game

Introducing the teams

Seattle and New England will face off in the Big Game for the first time since 2015 when Malcolm Butler’s last‑minute goal‑line interception secured a 28–24 Patriots win.

Will the Patriots win their first Super Bowl since the 2018-19 season, or will the Seahawks claim their second title in franchise history.

Seattle Seahawks

Key contributors to the Seahawks’ road to the Big Game this year include quarterback Sam Darnold, star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and a dominant defensive unit that ranks No. 1 in the NFL in scoring defense, allowing just 17 points per game. Darnold, in his first season with Seattle, led the team to a 14–3 record and delivered a standout performance in the NFC Championship game, throwing for 346 yards and three touchdowns against the Rams. Their balanced playstyle and elite defensive consistency are major advantages, though it won’t be easy against a New England team that has been very sharp on both sides of the ball.

New England Patriots

The Patriots had a resurgence thanks to second-year quarterback Drake Maye, head coach Mike Vrabel, and a defense that has been historically strong throughout late in the season and playoffs, allowing one touchdown or fewer in each of their last five games. Maye’s efficient, big‑play passing fueled New England’s turnaround from a 4–13 season to a 14–3 record. Under Vrabel, now the second person ever to reach the Big Game as both a player and coach of the same team, has found renewed identity with this Patriots team. While their young offensive line remains a potential weakness, New England’s adaptability and postseason resilience have made them a formidable contender.

Key matchups to look out for

With nearly 11 years since their last unforgettable Big Game showdown, this Seahawks–Patriots rematch brings a new generation of stars and storylines and no shortage of crucial matchups that could decide the game.

  1. Sam Darnold vs. Drake Maye: Both quarterbacks arrive at the Big Game with very different resumes but equally compelling momentum. Darnold, in his first season with Seattle, helped lead the Seahawks to a 14–3 record and delivered a 346‑yard, three‑touchdown performance in the NFC Championship. Maye, meanwhile, has elevated the Patriots’ offense with efficient, explosive plays, leading the league in completion percentage and yards per attempt while guiding New England on a remarkable worst‑to‑first turnaround. Both QBs will be tested: Darnold by New England’s surging postseason defense, and Maye by the NFL’s No. 1 scoring defense.
  2. Seahawks’ offense vs. Patriots’ defense: Seattle enters with one of the most balanced attacks in the league with strong run support and dynamic passing, but New England’s defense has been dominant throughout the postseason, allowing one touchdown or fewer in five straight games. The Patriots rely on a disruptive front and opportunistic play, forcing key turnovers against top offenses to reach the Big Game. This matchup may hinge on whether Seattle can find balance between the run and pass and prevent predictable passing downs that allow the Patriots to pressure Darnold.
  3. Jaxon Smith‑Njigba vs. Christian Gonzalez: One of the most exciting one‑on‑one battles of the night will be Seattle’s breakout receiver Jaxon Smith‑Njigba against Patriots’ Christian Gonzalez. Gonzalez, at 6'1" with length and speed, presents one of the few physical matches capable of shadowing JSN.
  4. Patriots’ offensive line vs. Seahawks’ top‑ranked defense: Maye has been sacked 15 times this postseason behind a young, inconsistent offensive line. Seattle’s ability to collapse the pocket may determine whether Maye’s arm talent and mobility can shine — or whether New England is forced into quick‑hitting throws and conservative play‑calling.
