Winnipeg man learns of $1M LOTTO 6/49 win months after draw

Allan M. is Winnipeg’s newest millionaire… and he discovered it just in time for the holiday season! The Winnipeg winner won $1,000,002 on the August 23 LOTTO 6/49 draw, but he didn’t check his ticket until December!

“I usually accumulate tickets until [I can’t hold] all the tickets together,” he laughed. “This time, I checked at least 20 tickets from the last few months.”

When Allan took his tickets up to a cashier to check his stack of tickets, both he and the cashier were stunned to see the major prize come up on the display.

“We did some high fiving! Then I kept on shopping, went home and told my wife!”

“She high-fived me too!” he continued. “We talked about furniture and upgrades to the house that we’d like to do—that’s the first thing that came up.”

Morin said besides home upgrades, he and his wife are still deciding how they’d like to enjoy the windfall.

“We are looking at taking an extended vacation somewhere warm… and possibly a little higher end than what we’d normally do!”

It’s a great reminder to check those lingering tickets as we approach the new year and ensure any older tickets don’t pass their one-year expiry date!

Allan purchased his winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket from Sobey”s at 1660 Kenaston Boulevard in Winnipeg. He won his prize in the August 23 Gold Ball Draw with the selection: 25772742-05, a white ball.
